Digital X-rays
Digital radiography is the latest way to take and evaluate x-rays. With digital x-rays, less radiation is needed to produce high-quality images. These images can then be evaluated by Dr. Stough on a large flat-screen monitor. This allows for easier detection of any problems. With such a large image, it is also easier for patients to see and understand what is happening with their teeth.
Intra-Oral Camera
Dr. Stough knows that a picture is worth a thousand words - especially in dentistry! They use small cameras right inside your mouth to take highly magnified digital photos of your teeth. These photos can be displayed on a computer screen for both patient and doctor, and are invaluable in diagnosing and recording dental problems. Intra-oral photos also enables patients to view what the dentist sees when their teeth are being evaluated by the dentist.
Caries Detection
Dr. Stough uses the SOPROLIFE caries detector. Over the last five years, SOPRO, the global leader in dental video imaging, has applied all of its technical expertise, in conjunction with scientific and clinical researchers, to develop a patented technology which is based on the principle of fluorescence. The result of this effort is a revolutionary new device—SOPROLIFE* which is used for the diagnosis and treatments of caries.

Soft tissue laser surgery
In soft tissue laser surgery, interaction of laser light with the soft tissue provides a special approach to surgery. A highly focused laser beam vaporizes the soft tissue with the high water content. Laser can make very small incisions when the beam is focused on the tissue (focal spot size can be as small as ~0.1 mm, but the most widely used in practice is 0.4 mm). When the beam is defocused, the intensity of the laser light on the tissue diminishes, and it can be used for cauterization of small blood vessels and lymphatics, therefore decreases post-operative swellings.
